Bergen County, New Jersey – Addressing a troubling trend of college grads and young professionals frustrated by information overload in a complex and difficult to navigate the job market, Career Coach Michelle Perchuk specializes in guiding these candidates in choosing a career path best suited to their talents and aspirations.
Founder and President of MTV Coaching, Perchuk lends her two decades of experience at elite recruitment firms working with Fortune 5000 companies to helping her clients grow professionally and prosper. She attributes her long-term relationships with hiring managers, HR executives and CEOs—and her team-building initiatives on their behalf—to her keen understanding of the hiring process and what candidates need to do to land their ideal job.
“Many young people today are lost,” says Perchuk. “They don’t know what they want to do, have never worked before, or get discouraged if they don’t do well. I work through all of this, figure out where they are stuck, what is challenging for them, and instill discipline, accountability and the work ethic they need to succeed.”
Perchuk gives the example of a current client who was a mediocre salesperson at a large technology firm. After a period of time working with her, he became the number one producer on his team and received senior management recognition.
Perchuk notes that the workplace is changing at lightning speed, and while there is an abundance of jobs, many applicants need the help of an experienced coach to match their skill level to available openings. She also coaches them on how to search for jobs, interview successfully, dress appropriately, and craft powerful resumes and LinkedIn profiles that grab the attention of recruiters.
A member of the International Coaching Federation, Perchuk is the author of an influential book on the state of contemporary recruiting, “Swimming in the Talent Pool,” interviewing over 30 C-suite executives in conducting her research.
Having counseled and placed thousands of job applicants at an impressive array of companies including Bank of America, the New York Stock Exchange, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, TIAA-CREF, and many others, she believes this extensive experience adds a valuable dimension to her coaching practice that her clients have benefited from greatly.
“It pains me to see so many talented and ambitious young people today making career missteps that waste precious years of their lives, leaving them unhappy and unfulfilled,” says Perchuk. Nothing pleases me more than seeing them realize the kind of happiness in the workplace they always dreamed about.”
